Program Rules for International Students

When you arrive, you will take part in a new student orientation, during which we will discuss all of the rules for our program. However, before you travel, you must be aware of a few very important policies that you will be required to abide by as soon as you enter the country.

  • Smoking is not permitted on the St. Paul Preparatory School program. Even if you are 18, you may not smoke while you are here. Cities around the U.S. (including Minneapolis and St. Paul) have banned smoking in public places and restaurants, and smoking is viewed very negatively. If you choose to smoke while attending St. Paul Prep, there will be serious consequences. You may even be sent home.

  • The drinking age in the U.S. is 21. St. Paul Preparatory School students may not drink alcohol of any kind in any setting (at home, at school, at a party, etc.). If you are caught drinking, you will be first subject to state law and then will be sent home at your own expense. Underage drinking is a very serious offense in the U.S., with severe legal punishment.

Please refer to the Handbook of Policies and Procedures for more specific information regarding our rules. Students will be given an updated copy when they arrive at St. Paul Prep.
